1 of 2: Well, you don't really have to if you don't want to. Every time John talks about ghosts, you have the option to tell him you're not interested, and if you do he'll stop pushing it on you.
2 of 2: But you might want to encourage him, especially if ghosts creep you out. All of his evidence turns out to be really lame and unconvincing, which is just fine with me.
