I can't get the day to change!
It doesn't matter. Unlike ND 10 (The Secret of Shadow Ranch), in this game it doesn't really matter what day it is. The days change when they change, and the puzzles will show up when you've reached that point in the game, rather than on a specific day. So ignore the change of days and just get on to the next problem.
If you're really determined to have it be a new day, you can always force the day to change by going to JJ's apartment and turn right in front of the phone to enter the bedrooms. The only thing this really does is change the newspaper on the dining room table, though; it doesn't change the events or make things happen any fast.
