I'm confused about the plot.
Yeah, me too. As far as I can tell, there are two distinctly separate stories here: Noisette and her wartime stash, and Minette and her troubles. They really don't seem to have any crossover at all, except that Minette is at the center of both of them. And the business with the electrical books in JJ's larder seems to be a total red herring -- a false clue to make you suspect her when she's just a paranoid cookie-eating Aussie, rather than a criminal.
