Nancy Drew: Danger By Design Hints

How do I substitute for brown sugar?

  • 1 of 6: If you cook a lot or you have a cookbook in your real kitchen, you can look this up for yourself. But there's also a way to find out in the game.
  • 2 of 6: The flea market vendors at Pont Neuf have all new stuff now. Why not go check them out?
  • 3 of 6: The guy in the middle has a book about making substitutions when you cook. Perfect!
  • 4 of 6: It says to add 1 teaspoon of molasses to 1/2 cup of white sugar to get brown sugar. (This works because that's really what brown sugar is: white sugar with molasses in it. Bizarre, huh?) So where's the molasses?
  • 5 of 6: In JJ's kitchen, that's where. Look in the cupboard at the back of the kitchen, to the right of the oven. The books in here are pretty interesting too, maybe.
  • 6 of 6: When you get to baking, add the two things (sugar and molasses) separately; you don't have to try to mix them together first.
