The Fishing Glitch

  • 1 of 10: This is that rare thing, a flaw in the programming that works to your advantage. It's a way to make between 60 and 100 BI bucks with very little effort. Read on!
  • 2 of 10: When you switch to Joe the first time (when Nancy asks him to find the location of "Green Trigger Rock" for her), the first thing he wants to do is get Mike out of the office. But don't!
  • 3 of 10: Instead, go talk to Mike about everything EXCEPT leaving the office. This allows you to talk to Pua and trade fish for BI bucks.
  • 4 of 10: Next, go down to the beach and collect enough shells to make two Aloha necklaces. This gets you 8 BI bucks; use 6 of them to buy the cheapest bait, Goo EZ.
  • 5 of 10: Now go fishing. Use Goo EZ to catch one fish -- and look what happens!
  • 6 of 10: A jar of Zippy's Wiggle Bait appears out of nowhere! Use the Zippy's to catch slightly better fish. And even better, this is a magic jar -- it says there are 16 baits inside, but when it gets down to 0, it goes back to 16 again. So you essentially have an endless supply of Zippy's!
  • 7 of 10: Catch fish until you have 5 ulua fish (or until you get tired of catching fish), then STOP. This is very important; I'll tell you why in a bit.
  • 8 of 10: Now go talk to Mike about leaving the office, and he'll ask you to catch 6 uluas for him. Go back to the dock and catch fish until you have 6 uluas, then take them to him. You can now take the rest of your fish to Pua and rake in the bucks. I've gotten up to 82 BI Bucks like this, and if you have the patience I'm sure you can make more!
  • 9 of 10: The reason you have to stop at 5 uluas is because if you catch all 6 before Mike gives you the assignment, he won't ask you to catch them at all. This means you can't move on in the game, and you're stuck -- your only option is to load in a saved game and start over.
  • 10 of 10: So once more, here's the sequence:
    1. Switch to Joe the first time.
    2. Talk to Mike about everything but leaving the office.
    3. Make two Aloha necklaces and turn them in, then buy Goo EZ bait.
    4. Catch one fish with Goo EZ, then use the endless supply of Zippy's Wiggle Bait.
    5. Catch fish until you have 5 uluas, then STOP.
    6. Talk to Mike about leaving the office.
    7. Catch fish till you have 6 uluas.
    8. Give the uluas to Mike and the rest of the fish to Pua.
