Nancy Drew: The White Wolf of Icicle Creek Hints
I can't figure out this new interface!
It looks more different than it really is, trust me.
To start the game, you can either use the "Play Nancy Drew Games" icon, highlight "White Wolf" and click on "Play" -- or you can go through the Start menu as always.
Once you're in the game, the only part that may confuse you is where the game controls are and how they work. Look along the bottom of the screen to find them. At the left, there's a backpack for Inventory, a notebook for Nancy's journal, and a clipboard for the checklist. At the right, there's a gear for game options like volume level, a manila folder to load games, a floppy disk to save games, and a computer with a red circle on it to quit the game.
Two really important changes have been made to the way the game works. For one thing, you can now save and load the game almost whenever you want, including in the middle of a conversation. This lets you save the game, make one conversation choice, then go back and make the other choice to see which one works better. For another thing, you now get to play the game without the CD in the computer at all, which means play is smoother and more seamless. Way to go, Her Interactive!
If you want more information about the changes in the game, start the game, and in Nancy's room, click on "How to Be a Detective" and read the sections on "What's New" and "Icons." You'll get used to the new interface in no time.
