Why did Trapper Dan make all these crazy tunnels and stuff?
1 of 2: If you read the captions in the display at the lodge, it implies that he was smuggling furs, and all this weirdness was to hide his stuff so it wouldn't be found.
2 of 2: It's also pretty clear, as Nancy observes (in the caption, but she doesn't say it out loud) that he had waaaaaaay too much time on his hands. Some people will do anything to keep from being bored. Like playing computer games, for example.
