Nancy Drew: Ghost Dogs of Moon Lake Hints

What is important about the paintings of the dogs?

  • 1 of 11: Carefully examine each of the four paintings.  What is each dog doing?  Can you determine where on the Malone property the dogs were doing these things?
  • 2 of 11: Apparently, each dog was known for spending time in a particular place on the Malone property.  Malone had an artist capture the dogs spending time at their favorite places on canvas.  As you first approach the four paintings, you make comments to yourself about where on the Malone property the dogs were doing these things, and you even locate these places on the treasure map.
  • 3 of 11: When you approach Lucy's painting, you comment that Lucy spent time on the shipwreck.  Do you remember reading about the shipwreck on the database in the ranger station?  You locate the shipwreck on the map, writing "Lucy" there.
  • 4 of 11: Note: If you did not make a comment when you examined Lucy's painting, you must return to Jeff Aker's database and read "History of Moon Lake" -- "Famous Residents".
  • 5 of 11: When you approach Vitus' painting, you comment that Vitus spent time under the tree containing the nest of the Red-tailed Hawk.  Do you remember Red telling you that tree was the favorite nesting place of the hawk fifty years ago?  You locate the hawk's tree on the map, writing "Vitus" there.
  • 6 of 11: When you approach Iggy's painting, you do not make a comment.  This is because Iggy is clearly lying on the porch just like William Akers and Vivian Whitmore said he always did.  Akers had already located the porch on the map, and had already written an "I" for "Iggy" there.
  • 7 of 11: When you approach Xander's painting, you do not make a comment.  This is because the painting is damaged, and you cannot make out where Xander is on the property, unfortunately.
  • 8 of 11: There is one other thing that is important about each painting, and it is a very small but important detail.  Go back and look at what each dog is wearing.
  • 9 of 11: Do you see something unique about each dog collar?
  • 10 of 11: Each dog is wearing a collar with a unique colored tag.
  • 11 of 11: Xander's tag is red.
    Vitus' tag is blue.
    Iggy's tag is yellow.
    Lucy's tag is green.
