Nancy Drew: The Haunted Carousel Hints

I'm trapped! How do I escape?

  • 1 of 7: Look around you.  What do you see?
  • 2 of 7: The tracks have switched, setting the track to curve.  With the track set to curve, the section of the track that goes straight has dropped down and trapped your foot -- right up against the curved track.  A roller coaster car has started, and will soon roll right along the curved track into you.  While you cannot reach the emergency stop switch, you can reach the switcher...then you could switch to the track to continue straight and free your foot.  The panel is right in front of you.  Open it.
  • 3 of 7: The wires have been disconnected.  The three wires must be manually reconnected to the three posts.  This is dangerous, because the posts are exposed and could electrocute you, you don't know which wire should reconnect to which post, and you have to hurry!
  • 4 of 7: It's safe to touch the posts, as the power switch is not depressed.  However, do not touch the posts if the power switch has been pushed in.  You manipulate the wires by touching the wire you wish to reconnect, then by connecting it to the correct post.  Unfortunately, there is no way to know which wire should reconnect to which post -- you must experiment until you get it right.  You'll know when you do, for the "connected" light next to the power switch should light up.  There are only six possible combinations, so you should be able to figure this one out yourself.  Get started quickly!
  • 5 of 7: First, ensure the power switch is not depressed.  Connect the first wire, the red one, to the second post.  Connect the second wire, the green one, to the third post.  Connect the third wire, the blue one, to the first post.
  • 6 of 7: Then turn the power on by depressing the button at the top.  The "connected" light should light up.
  • 7 of 7: Then switch the track position by pushing the button on the right from B, the curved track (red), to A, the straight track (green).  The track will switch to the straight track, freeing your foot and enabling the roller coaster car to continue straight, and you to escape.
