Nancy Drew: The Haunted Carousel Hints

How do I solve Miles' second riddle?

  • 1 of 8: After you solve Miles' first riddle, he presents the second riddle, which he says is written down.  It's a blank piece of paper.  Take the paper from Miles.  Miles explains that Joy loved to play this game with her mother.  You must find out if anything is written on this blank piece of paper.
  • 2 of 8: So, you read that Miles second riddle is: "The first eight notes of your favorite band organ tune, plus one mouth organ, plus one smidgeon of talent, equals one happy Miles."  Now that you can read Miles' second riddle, return to Joy and read it to her.
  • 3 of 8: You tell Joy that you need to know what her favorite band organ tune is, and that you need a mouth organ.  Unfortunately, Joy doesn't know what a band organ or even a mouth organ is.
  • 4 of 8: You remember from Elliott's carousel book that a band organ plays the tunes you hear on the carousel.  And you know that a mouth organ is a harmonica.  Miles reminds Joy that she played her favorite carousel tune on the harmonica for her mother.
  • 5 of 8: First, you're going to have find and play Joy's favorite band organ tune.
  • 6 of 8: Second, you'll need a harmonica so that you will be able to play "the first eight notes" of Joy's favorite band organ tune on the harmonica for Miles.
  • 7 of 8: Now that you have the harmonica, and you know what notes to play on it, return to Joy and tell her that the riddle is solved.
  • 8 of 8: She will ask you to play the tune for Miles and see what happens.  Take your harmonica and play the first eight notes of Joy's favorite band organ tune: A, E, D, E, F, E, A, E.  Miles confirms that you solved his second riddle.
