A New Beginning Hints

How can Bent disarm the bomb?

  • 1 of 8: Bent comments about what to do. Don't worry, you have time till sunset.
  • 2 of 8: The electronic display shows the count of red markers, red bridges increase the amount, and yellow markers decrease it.
  • 3 of 8: The goal is to have the electronic display show the same number as scratched into the bomb surface.
  • 4 of 8: Start with bringing those elements that need 0 to a zero count of red markers where it is clear.
  • 5 of 8: Bridge in the left column (1-1 to 2-1 and 4-1 to 5-1) and the red marker in the bottom line (4-4 to 5-4) with yellow bridges

(For a better description, I use a coordinate system (line-column) with lines counted from the top to the bottom and columns counted from left to right.)
  • 6 of 8: The next step is the clear 0-count in the 4th line (4-2 to 4-3). Bridge that with a yellow bridge.
  • 7 of 8: Now look at the right column. You have to bridge the remaining 3 markers, but if you bridged 1-5 to 1-4 you can't reach the amount of 3 red markers in that line, so 1-5 has to be bridged to 2-5, and therefore 3-5 has to be bridged to 3-4 in yellow.
  • 8 of 8: Looking at the remaining markers you see that if all squares of 1-2 to 2-4 were red, the puzzle would be solved, so just bridge 1-2 to 2-2, 1-3 to 2-3 and 1-4 to 2-4 with red bridges.
