How do I get upstairs in the hotel?

  • 1 of 16: You'll need to get a room for the night. 
  • 2 of 16: In order to ask the hotel clerk for a key, you'll need to attract his attention.
  • 3 of 16: Ring the bell on the counter.
  • 4 of 16: Oh no, there aren't any vacancies.  There must be a way to convince the clerk to give you a room.
  • 5 of 16: For more information, be sure you've spoken to the hotel guest sitting in the lobby.
  • 6 of 16: He will tell you about someone who hasn't shown up at the hotel yet.  Think about how you could use this information.
  • 7 of 16: Can you think of a way to trick the clerk into thinking the other guest has canceled his reservation?
  • 8 of 16: Perhaps you could phone the clerk.
  • 9 of 16: Hmm...  Seems you would need both a phone number for the hotel and a phone to do that.  Note: When you began this section, your cell phone became unavailable.  You'll need to use a different phone.
  • 10 of 16: There is another phone nearby.
  • 11 of 16: Step outside to find a phone booth.  Now all you will need is a phone number for the hotel.  Perhaps you can find a clue inside the hotel.
  • 12 of 16: Check out the counter carefully to find an ashtray.
  • 13 of 16: Inside the ashtray is a free book of matches.
  • 14 of 16: What is normally printed on a free book of matches?
  • 15 of 16: Right-click on the matches in inventory to see the phone number of the hotel.
  • 16 of 16: When you go out to the phone booth, Martin will automatically call the hotel desk -- but only if you have looked at the matches in inventory.
