The Mansion (second visit) -- How do I open the safe?

  • 1 of 11: First things first -- have you found the safe?
  • 2 of 11: Clues to the combination are here, in the Professor's mansion.
  • 3 of 11: You are looking for a five digit combination (even though trying the safe seems to suggest six digits).
  • 4 of 11: Keep in mind that there are ways to convert alphabet letters into numbers.
  • 5 of 11: There are two clues to the combination.  The first is the poster over the fireplace.
  • 6 of 11: The letters "TIKAL" are on the poster.  This word needs to be converted into numbers.
  • 7 of 11: The clue as to how to convert TIKAL into numbers is also in the room with the safe.
  • 8 of 11: Notice the phone in the corner near the safe?
  • 9 of 11: Go into a close-up of the phone to see the number pad.
  • 10 of 11: Most the keys on the number pad have one number and three (or four) letters.
  • 11 of 11: Using the letters on the number pad, each letter can be converted into a matching number.  For example, to convert the "T" into a number, first find the "T" on the number pad, then read off the number on the same key ("T" = number 8).
