The Hotel (second visit) -- How do I get inside the hotel?

  • 1 of 20: Have you tried the front door?
  • 2 of 20: Oh-no, not *him* again!  Martin does not want to risk getting caught again, so he will go back outside and won't go back into the lobby.  Note: Be sure you enter the front door and try this -- it is not a step that can be skipped.
  • 3 of 20: Perhaps there is a "back door" into the hotel that Martin can use.
  • 4 of 20: Go around to the side of the hotel (on the right side of the screen).
  • 5 of 20: Notice the fire escape ladder hanging part way down?
  • 6 of 20: Be sure you click on it.  You will discover that Martin can't quite reach it.  He will need to find a way to extend his reach.
  • 7 of 20: Be observant -- a helpful item is in this location.
  • 8 of 20: The beggar woman has something that can help.
  • 9 of 20: Look just to the left of her (on the left when looking at her).
  • 10 of 20: Click on the walking stick next to her.
  • 11 of 20: Perhaps the beggar woman would lend it to you, if you offered her something else in exchange.
  • 12 of 20: Talk to her to find out what she would like.
  • 13 of 20: Hmm...  A hot dog.  Where would anyone be serving food around here?
  • 14 of 20: Remember the fast-food window in the building near the front of the hotel?
  • 15 of 20: Martin can buy a hot dog with mustard (the game names the fast food window a "buffet").
  • 16 of 20: Give the hot dog to the beggar woman to find out she doesn't like mustard.  She wants a hot dog with ketchup.  You'll have to start over with the hot dog.
  • 17 of 20: Try again at the buffet window.  They can sell Martin a plain hot dog, but they don't have any ketchup. 
  • 18 of 20: Once you have applied the ketchup to the hot dog in the inventory, try again with the beggar woman.
  • 19 of 20: This time she will accept the hot dog and let you borrow the walking stick.  Now, do you remember what you were going to do with it?
  • 20 of 20: Use the walking stick on the fire escape to enter the hotel.  Your next goal will be to get inside Room 32.
