Nine: The Last Resort Hints
How do I get across the moat?
of 20: There is only one place that you can approach the moat closely enough to get a clear path to the other side.
of 20: And there is only one object with which you will need to interact on the other side of the moat -- this is where you must cross.
of 20: The place where you can cross is directly across from the big pipe organ.
of 20: There is also a lever here. Try manipulating it.
of 20: The lever won't do much until it is powered.
of 20: Salty gives you a clue about how to get it working.
of 20: He says "You gotta juice that thing up first if you want to cross the moat."
of 20: He means, you have to supply the mechanism with some power first.
of 20: You may have seen a boiler in the lobby that might generate some power...
of 20: But this particular mechanism does not run off the boiler.
of 20: The lever is powered by the generator to the right (the thing with the big rusty paddles in the water).
of 20: The system works like a water-wheel: as water flows by, it pushes the paddles, which rotates the wheel and generates electricity.
of 20: Can you find some way to get the water moving to push the paddles and make the wheel turn?
of 20: Have you explored the entire Lobby?
of 20: Have you looked under the big staircase yet?
of 20: There is a water-inlet chute there with a lever next to it.
of 20: Pull the lever; the chute will open and water will flow out.
of 20: If you quickly turn to the right, you will see the paddle wheel turning.
of 20: You must hold the chute open for several seconds to get the amount of power that you need.
of 20: When you see the "Muse" neon sign flash a few times, you will have generated enough power to energize the lever and allow it to raise a bridge across the moat.
