Nine: The Last Resort Hints
How do I solve the roller ball puzzle?
1 of 12: The object of this game is to get the ball from the top of the board to the bottom using the rotating cups.
2 of 12: Each cup rotates in a particular way.
3 of 12: The ball will only roll downwards.
4 of 12: The rotation of the cups will be different each time you approach the game board or "pull the pepper" to start a new game.
5 of 12: You must pass the ball from cup to cup to maneuver it to the bottom of the board.
6 of 12: There may be one or several "paths" to the bottom of the board for each game.
7 of 12: The easiest way to solve this puzzle is to determine which ways the cups can rotate BEFORE you start moving the ball.
8 of 12: One strategy is given below.
9 of 12: Start manipulating cups from the bottom up to see which ones can "connect" to pass the ball.
10 of 12: You may also need to turn "dead end" cups AWAY from the path of the ball to prevent the ball from being detoured.
11 of 12: Once you have determined a path through which the ball can be passed, start the game by rotating the top cup to release the ball.
12 of 12: When you get the ball to the bottom of the board, pick it up and examine it for a notation clue.
