Nine: The Last Resort Hints
How do I use the gear?
1 of 15: It is exactly like the gears in the moving sidewalk gear compartment.
2 of 15: You cannot use the gear to STOP the sidewalk.
3 of 15: Nor any other item in the house, for that matter.
4 of 15: If the sidewalk cannot be stopped, how else could it be manipulated so that you would be able to cross it?
5 of 15: You must reverse it.
6 of 15: Try putting the new gear into the works.
7 of 15: Pull down the existing gears to make a place for the gear you got from the jukebox.
8 of 15: There are several ways to put the gear in. Some ways will not change the sidewalk's direction.
9 of 15: But one way will. Solution below.
10 of 15: Pull down the bottom gear TWICE, then pull down ONE of the middle gears TWICE.
11 of 15: Now wedge the new gear right in the middle.
12 of 15: When you get it correct, you will be able to see the underside of the moving sidewalk change directions.
13 of 15: Now you can get to the second floor.
14 of 15: But, you will now need to find another way back down to the First Floor!
15 of 15: You will need to take the elevator to get back down to the First Floor.
