Nine: The Last Resort Hints
How do I operate the Drum Machine?
of 18: First, you should talk with Voodoo Man to get a hint about what you must do with the Drum Machine.
of 18: Listen to what Voodoo Man says as you approach the Drum Machine.
of 18: He says, "Check out your drums and play the beat."
of 18: Open the Acme Drum Machine.
of 18: The lever on the left will open it.
of 18: Now check out your drums.
of 18: Do this by pushing down on each small red paddle switch. You will hear a different short drum riff for each switch.
of 18: The riffs all sound very similar, but each one is slightly different from all the others.
of 18: Listen to them carefully, as you will have to remember which riff corresponds to which switch.
of 18: When you think you have each riff memorized, push the red button to start the jam session.
of 18: Voodoo Man will play a riff, then tell you to play.
of 18: Try to match what he played by pushing down on the correct switch.
of 18: If you play the wrong riff, he will shake his head at you and tell you to try again. When you play the riff correctly, he will nod, then play the first riff again and add a second one.
of 18: You must duplicate Voodoo Man's drum playing each time he adds a new piece.
of 18: Each piece that is added could be a "new switch", or a switch you have already pressed (riffs can be repeated in the sequence), and some switches may not be used at all.
of 18: You can make as many mistakes as you need to in order to solve this puzzle, so doing it by trial and error will work, but it may take some time and patience.
of 18: IMPORTANT NOTE: Do NOT back away from the Drum Machine once you have started the game, as the drum jam that the Voodoo guy wants you to play will CHANGE each time you approach the Machine.
of 18: After the sixth successful repetition, Voodoo Man will give you a present.
