Neverwinter Nights: Hordes of the Underdark Hints
How can I keep the drow thief from teleporting all my stuff away?
1 of 5: Have you tried attacking the thief the instant you see her?
2 of 5: Unfortunately, she'll always manage to finish her thieving spell.
3 of 5: Kill the thief and raid her for a few items, then talk to Tamsil to learn that you can loot the local armory (which is right near your room) of all its goodies. There isn't any dragon armor, belts of giant strength, or anything great like that, but there are some magic items that'll keep you alive for a while. (At least your gold wasn't stolen by the thief, so hopefully you imported a rich character.)
4 of 5: The good news is that you'll be able to recover all of your items (or at least a bunch of them) near the end of Chapter 1 when you get to level 3 of the Undermountain. Items that were inside containers like magic bags may or may not all come through. As for the containers themselves, they seem to only come through if they're empty (the ones that have items inside them vanish whether the items do or not).
5 of 5: If you have a set of saves from NWN or Undrentide instead of just an importable character, you may want to load up a save from near the end of one of those games and empty all your container items and sell off whatever won't fit into your inventory. Then finish the game again and import your character into HoU. (Actually, you could import a character into NWN or Undrentide again just long enough to sell off items, then export him again for import into HoU. Some people may consider that cheating, but the game doesn't.)
