Is there any way to save the fleeing goblin's life?
1 of 6: Nope.
2 of 6: But you wouldn't want to, anyway.
3 of 6: After you kill off his drow pursuers, check the goblin's dead body.
4 of 6: He has an interesting item on him called "yellow chain."
5 of 6: That's why the drow were pursuing him! He was trying to get away with one of the colored chains needed for the door-opening gimmick you saw in the cut scene when you first entered the level.
