What good is Halaster's magnifying glass?
1 of 6: NOTE: It's in the treasure chest in the small room north of the petrified blue dragon's room.
2 of 6: Have you read the magnifying glass' description?
3 of 6: Maybe you could use it to fry insects. What insect-like creatures have you seen in the Undermountain?
4 of 6: There are some giant spiders here and there, but spiders are technically not insects, so it won't work.
5 of 6: The formians you can meet on level 3 of the Undermountain qualify, and you can fry them good by using the magnifying glass' unique power on them (but you probably won't want to because they're your allies against the drow).
6 of 6: NOTE: The little starting walkthru that Bioware provides on their website (nwn.bioware.com) mentions that the magnifying glass can be used to solve a special puzzle near the beholder bridge in Chapter 2, but I've never found out what that means.
