Neverwinter Nights: Hordes of the Underdark Hints

What all weapon upgrades should I get from Rizolvir?

  • 1 of 5: As many as you can afford. This guy can take the enchantment all the way up to +10 and add all kinds of supercool extras like haste, keen, spell resistance, and so on.
  • 2 of 5: IMPORTANT NOTE: If item level restrictions are on (which is the default), your weapons will start to be usable only by characters of a higher level than you are after you put several enhancements on them. You  need to very carefully decide which enhancements you want the most and save your game before buying them. If those enhancements cause your weapon to be unusable to you, you'll want to restore and not enchant that weapon any more (at least for awhile).
  • 3 of 5: Another big drawback is that each upgrade costs many thousands of gold, and putting every possible upgrade on even one weapon would take a millionaire. Those of you who imported a rich character from the main NWN campaign (or who are willing to use the cheat codes to get money) will be rejoicing *bigtime* now! If not, don't despair. There are plenty of places in Chapter 2 to get expensive stuff to sell to raise money for upgrades. Also, consider that Rizolvir will be back in Chapter 3, and you can sell super-valuable items for more money then (and your character will be higher-level).
  • 4 of 5: Since you can only upgrade weapons, you'll probably want to pick your favorite melee weapon(s) and your favorite ranged weapon and only buy upgrades for those. If you focus on them, you should be able to afford most of the best enhancements for both weapons eventually.
  • 5 of 5: CHEAT NOTE: You can eliminate some of the restrictions on weapon upgrades if you're willing to go to the trouble of using the game's Aurora Toolset to modify the main game module for Chapter 2.
