Neverwinter Nights: Hordes of the Underdark Hints

How can I defeat the Maker?

  • 1 of 7: It shouldn't be too hard, considering that he's just an ugly little floating skull.
  • 2 of 7: Unfortunately, he has many powerful damage resistances and can cast some potent spells. You'd better have some seriously upgraded weapons to attack him with!
  • 3 of 7: The creature's magic resistance is also very high, so spellcasters may be better off casting defensive and healing spells on henchmen rather than trying to zap the Maker directly. (On the other hand, the Maker's Fortitude and Reflex saving throws are very low, so you might want to try spells that require those saving throws to resist.)
  • 4 of 7: Another good spellcaster tip is to start off by casting Greater Sanctuary and then Black Blade of Disaster. The sanctuary spell will keep the Maker from attacking you, and your summoned blade can attack the Maker without dispelling your sanctuary spell. (Note that there are scrolls for both of those spells on the bookshelves at the back of the room if you need them.)
  • 5 of 7: An important tip for everybody is to have several Potions of Heal available on the main quickbar for quick use. Many of the Maker's spells can drain your hit points very quickly. (Potions of Heal can be bought from High Wizard Guthrys in the Lith My'athar city core.)
  • 6 of 7: The Maker is not very good at following you closely, so you could always run off north a ways to rest and heal up, and to wait for some of his nasty area effect spells to wear off. If you do this enough, he'll run out of powerful spells, and you can relax and whistle while you hack.
  • 7 of 7: NOTE: If you used the password to get past the Keeper peacefully earlier, the mithral golems won't turn hostile and join the Maker in attacking you. Also, after you beat the Maker (and heal up), you can attack the golems to turn them hostile and get some more XP for killing them.
