Neverwinter Nights: Hordes of the Underdark Hints
Notes and Extras
1 of 5: Beholders have attacks and (in some rooms) grease pumps that can cause knockdowns unless you're immune. Wearing dragon slippers (such as the ones found at location 6 on the West of Lith My'athar map) is one way to become immune to knockdown.
2 of 5: Another annoying beholder tactic is to fly straight up when damaged, and then land somewhere nearby (not necessarily within sight). You may have to chase a few down if you want to kill all of them.
3 of 5: If you're getting petrified too often, try setting the game's difficulty level to "easy" so that petrification will wear off with time. Otherwise, you'll just have to boost your saving throws as best you can and keep retrying each beholder battle until you make it through unpetrified.
4 of 5: The first time you use the exit boulder in the Lower Tunnels to climb back up to the regular Beholder Caves area, several beholders and beholder mages will appear and attack you. If you have trouble with this, try quickly retreating north to the narrow tunnels where you can't be surrounded on all sides. (Note that you should get this battle over with before you go very far in the Lower Tunnels, since you don't want the beholder ambush happening when you retreat from the Lower Tunnels to rest and heal.)
5 of 5: One nice side-effect of the anti-magic zone in the Lower Tunnels is that it's a snap to identify any items in your pack (since none of them are actually magical at the time).
