Neverwinter Nights: Hordes of the Underdark Hints
How do I kill all of the cult monks in the Inner Sanctum area for good?
of 11: Have you noticed what happens when you kill a monk in combat?
of 11: He reverts to gaseous form and makes for his sarcophagus.
of 11: That's the place to kill these creatures once and for all!
of 11: Think back to standard vampire lore. What do you do when you come across a vampire resting in his coffin?
of 11: There are stories that involve several different procedures, but the good old stake-through-the-heart routine just can't be beat!
of 11: Now all you have to do is find enough stakes to deal with all of the cult monk corpses that you'll come across on this level.
of 11: There's no splintered wood just lying around for the taking, so you'll have to make some of your own.
of 11: When you bash open a chest or crate in this area, you'll always get at least one portion of splintered wood from it besides the "remains" bag with its contents. (Also, you can bash chairs, tables, and other furniture for more spare wood splinters.)
of 11: NOTE: Don't ever bash a container item before opening it. If you do, you won't get any of the randomly generated treasure that opening the container gets you.
of 11: So bash every bashable wooden thing you can find and pick up all the splintered wood you get. Then when you come across a sarcophagus with a body in it, you can choose to drive a piece of wood through its heart to end its foul existence and get some XP.
of 11: NOTE: When a monk is up and fighting, his sarcophagus is empty and can't be dealt with yet. You'll have to damage the monk's body enough that he returns to his sarco to regenerate. Only then can you rid the world of him for good.
