Neverwinter Nights: Hordes of the Underdark Hints
How can I free Lavoera the deva from the machine she's attached to?
of 8: Near where she's being held is a magical apparatus.
of 8: If you try to use it, you'll find that you can pull a lever or attempt to take a crystal.
of 8: Taking the crystal would destroy the machine and free the deva, but it's impossible to do that without a special gadget called a nullifier rod.
of 8: You'll find that rod in one of the two treasure chests in the room with the Shadow Master's sarcophagus in it.
of 8: When you use the magical apparatus with the nullifier rod in inventory, you'll have the option of inserting the rod.
of 8: NOTE: Pulling the machine's lever will drain the deva of some of her blood, which will then appear in a vial in your inventory. You can drain her three times, thereby killing her and getting three vials, or you can drain her up to twice and then free her by using the nullifying rod. The deva blood is useful in reanimating the nearby bone golems for fighting on your side (though note that they're rather sporadic in what areas they follow you to, sometimes appearing and sometimes not, so don't count on their help against Vix'thra).
of 8: Whether you kill the deva or not, insert the nullifier rod into the apparatus to destroy it and enable you to take a powerful crystal amulet from its remains that can cast many different spells and give you a resistance to negative energy.
of 8: If you free the deva, you can persuade her to either help you in your upcoming fight against Vix'thra or to join the rebel forces when the Valsharess attacks at the end of the chapter. If you killed her, you lose out on that plus you have to fight a "planetar" who's mad about your actions as you return to the lightning chamber.
