How do I repel the first wave of invaders?
1 of 6: The first phase of battle involves a two-pronged attack on the environs area.
2 of 6: Some major monsters like pit fiends and balors will be teleported directly into the courtyard. This is the first emergency, and you should rush back and forth, killing these summoned creatures as quickly as possible.
3 of 6: At the same time, the large duergar force outside will start bashing away at the outer gates. There's little chance of preventing the outer gates from falling, so just run around killing summoned fiends until the duergar get the outer gates open.
4 of 6: Then you can either run out through the gates and into the field of battle (recommended for super-tough fighter-types only) or you can stay in the courtyard and defend the inner gates with all you've got.
5 of 6: Another nice option, especially for accomplished spellcasters and archers, is to use one of the doors that gets you up onto one of the outer wall's towers and then fire off some major mayhem from up there. (Note that the catapults on the towers can also be taken over and used.)
6 of 6: Eventually, the Battle Herald will announce that the enemy is retreating, and you won't be able to move at all anymore. When this happens, talk to the Battle Herald to be moved into Lith My'athar's city core for the second phase of the siege.
