Neverwinter Nights: Hordes of the Underdark Hints
How do I start a new Hordes of the Underdark (HoU) game?
1 of 6: The same way you always start a new game -- click on the "New" button on the game's main menu.
2 of 6: Now that you have the HoU expansion pack installed, you can choose the NWN Expansion Pack 2 (which is HoU).
3 of 6: After choosing a starting chapter, you can either create a new character or use a pre-made one, just as in NWN.
4 of 6: If you didn't export your level-20 finishing character from your NWN campaign yet, then load up your last saved game and choose "Save Character" from the game's options menu. Better yet, export a level-20 character who's also finished the Shadows of Undrentide (SoU) expansion in order to start out with more XP -- that way you can level up several times as soon as you start HoU.
5 of 6: Note that if you have no characters to import, the game will let you create a new character and then level him up to level 15. This does *not* apply to imported characters who are level 12 to 14, so don't import any characters who've only been through Undrentide (since they'll probably be level 12 or 13) unless you're willing to use the cheats to level them up to 15 or higher.
6 of 6: If you need a character to import who's level 20 and has been through SoU, send me an e-mail at dunigase@yahoo.com requesting one, and I'll e-mail you back the character's BIC file, which you can then put in your "NWN\localvault" directory. I currently only have human fighter, barbarian, and ranger characters to offer, but may get more variety later. (If you have one to donate, tell me. I'm looking for level-20 characters who can be imported successfully even if legal characters are enforced and item level restrictions are on. A strictly non-cheat character, in other words.)
