How can I use the trap room to kill the beast?

  • 1 of 10: In the corridor west of the trap room (or somewhere else nearby), tell any henchmen you have with you to stand their ground. (Right-click on each one and choose the bottom middle icon.) That'll keep them from getting in the way and getting trapped in the trap room with the manticore.
  • 2 of 10: NOTE: If you have Trip with you, he'll run in and talk to you when you enter the trap room. After he does, take him back outside to wait.
  • 3 of 10: Then go put one poison crystal in each of the trap room's two crystal-crushing barrels.
  • 4 of 10: Quicksave your game, then run into the manticore's den to get his attention.
  • 5 of 10: The idea is that he'll follow you as you run back through the trap room so that you can hit the lever that's past the trap room's west door to trap the manticore inside.
  • 6 of 10: However, the manticore is very bad about just standing in one spot and firing clusters of powerful spikes at you.
  • 7 of 10: TIP: Wearing the Greater Archer's Belt that the smithy shop in South Cyan sells will keep most of the spikes from damaging you, but it's a very expensive belt (over 20,000 gold).
  • 8 of 10: You'll probably have to stand near the trap room's east door and let the manticore hit you with several spike barrages (using the "respawn" option whenever you die) so that it'll finally start chasing you.
  • 9 of 10: When it does, run through the trap room and quickly hit the lever on the other side to trap and poison the manticore.
  • 10 of 10: Then open the trap room back up and click on the dead manticore to get its hide.
