Neverwinter Nights: Kingmaker Hints
What weapon should I ask the Shaft of Light to transform into?
1 of 7: Talk to the Shaft of Light until it offers you the weapon choices.
2 of 7: You'll get to choose from all the different types of melee weapons that your character class can use.
3 of 7: Choose whichever melee weapon type you want your level 1 character to eventually become most proficient in. (Note that this skews the module difficulty in favor of melee fighter classes.)
4 of 7: After you kill a couple of rats and speak to the Shaft of Light again, you'll be able to level up to level 2.
5 of 7: TIP: Actually, you can level up before fighting the rats, and may want to do so to make them a bit easier to kill.
6 of 7: Your new magic weapon will start out with an attack bonus +2, a permanent Light effect, and the ability to cast the Resurrection spell several times. (Also, when you die, you can hit "respawn" to have the weapon resurrect you on the spot at the cost of two of the weapon's charges.)
7 of 7: When you level up to level 3 in the keep later on, your weapon will gain an enhancement bonus of +3. With further level-ups, you'll be able to choose from various possible bonuses.
