Neverwinter Nights: Kingmaker Hints
What can I do about the magical balls that keep bouncing down the corridors?
of 12: Try to avoid them.
of 12: Walk around a bit and watch how they bounce.
of 12: Notice that they need mirrors to help them bounce around corners.
of 12: Try clicking on some of the mirrors.
of 12: Out of the five mirrors in the area, two can't be moved at all, two can be picked up and carried with you, and the one that fires the magic balls can be rotated.
of 12: Also, there's a secret control room where you can turn the magic balls off completely.
of 12: See the Map of First Bastion Area to find out where the control room's two secret entrances are.
of 12: Walk around near one in Detect mode until you spot it, then go in and kill off the drow inside.
of 12: If your Lore skill is high enough when you first use the illithid control panel, you'll be able to figure out what its dial settings do. Otherwise, you'll have to try them blindly (or read the next hint).
of 12: The dial has three power settings for the bouncy magic balls: off, low, and high. You can increase the setting by turning the dial clockwise if it's not already on "high," or decrease it by turning the dial counter-clockwise if it's not already on "off."
of 12: The dial starts off in the "low" position, so you can just turn it counter-clockwise once to turn off the magic balls.
of 12: Don't just turn them off and forget about them, though -- you can use the magic balls to help you thrash most of the enemies in this area.
