Neverwinter Nights: ShadowGuard Hints
The Peaceful Way
1 of 8: Use one of the persuade, intimidate, or bribe options to get the guard to open the door for you.
2 of 8: You only have one chance for success, so be sure to save your game before you try any of those options.
3 of 8: When you succeed, you'll be able to get to Mikel's room without any combat.
4 of 8: Talk to Mikel, then decide whether you want to attack him or negotiate with him.
5 of 8: If you attack him, you'll need to get the letter off his body to learn that Chancellor Varhun is behind the whole plot.
6 of 8: You can also get his key and open nearby locked doors and treasure chests.
7 of 8: If you instead keep talking, you can call a truce in which Mikel tells you about Varhun's involvement. (You can also get the incriminating letter by accusing Mikel of just trying to pin the blame.)
8 of 8: As for the locked doors and chests, you'll have to lockpick or bash the chest in the unlocked room, and you can forget about getting into the other room (unless you betray the truce and kill Mikel for his key).
