How can I defeat the manticore in the main stinger cave?
1 of 5: That isn't easy, since it's no wimp.
2 of 5: The two doors leading into the manticore room close and lock automatically when the manticore is released, so the first thing you should do is close the doors from outside the room and then bash them. That way, once the manticore is loose, you can retreat and maneuver down the cave tunnels. This is especially useful for non-melee fighters.
3 of 5: If you can't conduct a strategic ranged battle, then heal up, use protective potions, and charge the beast. It's more powerful than any stinger, but it isn't exactly an end-game boss either. You should be able to kill it in a few tries.
4 of 5: Once it's dead, search its corpse to find a diamond.
5 of 5: Then check out its den at the west end of its area. You can find a suit of Half Plate +1 armor, plus get a "boss weapon" from the bones (meaning a level-dependent weapon in your weapon focus area). Random boss treasure is very rare in SoU, so make the most of it!
