Kobolds in the Kitchen
1 of 9: Enter the Bubbling Cauldron in town and talk to Lodar to learn what's going on.
2 of 9: Mara the cook is being held hostage in the kitchen by several kobolds, who've also hastily erected a makeshift barricade in the kitchen doorway.
3 of 9: You have several options as to how to deal with this situation. (Note that none of them affect whether or not you can get the berries you need for another quest.)
4 of 9: The straightforward way is to bash the makeshift barrier and kill all of the kobolds. You won't be able to save Mara's life that way, but you'll get quite a bit of XP from all the kobold kills.
5 of 9: If you can cast the Sleep spell, you could use it to keep the kobolds incapacitated while bashing the barrier and charging them.
6 of 9: For other options, talk to Hurc, the kobold who's standing nearest the barricade.
7 of 9: You could persuade him to agree to trade Mara for you (and then bluff or fight your way out), persuade him to just go (Mara goes with them), or intimidate him into surrendering.
8 of 9: NOTE: If you kill the kobolds, you can get Hurc's special magic dagger, which has a Vampiric Regeneration +1 effect on it.
9 of 9: In any case, talk to Lodar to finish the quest.
