Neverwinter Nights: Shadows of Undrentide Hints
How can I release Karsus from his prison of eternal torment?
of 11: Go to his prison and talk to him about it.
of 11: To get there, you'll have to make it to the NW room of the Great Library and figure out how to proceed from there.
of 11: After you've finished off all the hostiles in the unholy temple in "The Beggar's Love," find the side room with the "On the Nature of Hell" book and read it to get to Karsus' prison.
of 11: When you arrive, help Karsus kill off all the succubi that are attacking him (and get the neat Nymph Cloak +5 from one succubus' remains).
of 11: Then talk to Karsus to learn that he's somehow responsible for the great magic failure that ended the Netherese empire long ago.
of 11: Ask to read his confession to get an inkwell and some XP. (Then optionally kill him for some more XP and a Staff of Defense.)
of 11: To get back to the Great Library, find Karsus' confession book in a nearby room and read it. (But not before taking the Greater Amulet of Health from the nearby impaled corpse. If you have no other items that give you a constant Regeneration effect, then put this on at once.)
of 11: Now you've got a magic pen and inkwell, so return to the unholy temple in the other book and find the "On the Nature of Hell" book again.
of 11: This time when you click on it, rewrite its central argument before you read it.
of 11: You'll find an archangel standing where Karsus was. (Note that it doesn't matter whether you killed him before or not.)
of 11: Talk to the archangel to learn that Karsus is now free of his prison, and that he'll help you fight the Wise Wind when you catch up to it.
