How can I get the gold?

  • 1 of 11: Have you walked around inside the tree stump in Detect Mode for a while?
  • 2 of 11: If that doesn't help you find the small hole that the gold is buried in, go talk to the guy who hid it there.
  • 3 of 11: Go back to Brogan's Arm and talk to Angmar Rockspitter at his outdoor smithy shop.
  • 4 of 11: Ask if any strangers have been through town lately, then ask what they bought and mention that he must have made a lot of money.
  • 5 of 11: You'll then have the option of provoking him into telling you his hiding spot.
  • 6 of 11: You have to pass a check for either Wisdom or the Taunt skill, and you only have one chance to get it right (so quicksave before trying).
  • 7 of 11: He'll say that his gold is buried under the Elkentree, so return to the Elkenherd area and try moving around inside the stump in Detect Mode again. You should be able to find the hole this time.
  • 8 of 11: Reach down into the hole to get pecked by a greedy, gold-snatching raven.
  • 9 of 11: NOTE: This is Old Man Nimmermaer's raven familiar, though you don't need to know that in order to find the hole.
  • 10 of 11: The raven will be hostile, and will start attacking you and/or the nearby elkenbeasts, so you might as well kill it and get the one gold coin it came out of the hole with.
  • 11 of 11: Then click on the hole to see that there's only 63 gold left in it. Some buried treasure!
