What are some tips for this situation?
1 of 3: You'd probably be better off if you go into the room far enough to get the attention of a few convicts, and then run quickly out and thereby take them on a few at a time.
2 of 3: Having a tough henchman to help you is also useful here, especially if your character isn't a tough fighter himself.
3 of 3: Only approach the sorcerer once you've lured out and finished off most of the other convicts. It would also help to heal up first, since the sorcerer's spells will kill off low-level characters very fast.
