Neverwinter Nights Hints
Optional Quest: A Devil's Deed
1 of 14: To start on this quest, enter Helm's Hold and make your way to the big summoning room that's NE of the main entrance.
2 of 14: Talk to Chaohinon of the Void to find out that he was summoned to suppress the Hold's local guardian spirit, making the conquering of the Hold possible.
3 of 14: Chaohinon's summoners didn't release him as they'd promised, though, so he gives you a chance to do so.
4 of 14: You'll find the evil grimoire you need on a bookshelf in one of the rooms south of this one.
5 of 14: Once you have it, click on the altar near Chaohinon.
6 of 14: You can then either free him and collect a reward of a magic item or some serious (though temporary) power-ups, or you can banish him.
7 of 14: If you free him and claim a reward, the quest is over. (This is the best option for chaotic evil characters, since you'll get a neat bonus item from Chaohinon. Lawful good characters can get a bonus item from the Helm guardian.)
8 of 14: If you banish him, you can then find another summoning book and bring back the good guardian spirit that Chaohinon had suppressed.
9 of 14: The Book of Helm is on a trapped bookshelf in a small side room with a powerful False Helmite Elite guy.
10 of 14: You'll find that room up in the NW section of this floor, right next to the door that leads to Fenthick's room.
11 of 14: Once you have the Book of Helm, return to the summoning room and click on the altar again.
12 of 14: Restore the spirit and choose your reward from him.
13 of 14: Make it either a magic item or empowerment. Just getting info from him isn't nearly as useful.
14 of 14: NOTE: The magic bow you can get from the guardian spirit is one of the best in the game, so I recommend you go for that.
