Neverwinter Nights Hints
How do I kill the mighty Klauth?
of 12: You start by taking a swing at him or insisting on killing him in dialogue.
of 12: But he's one MEGA-powerful dragon, so it would be best if you could severely weaken him first with trickery.
of 12: To do that, go check out the little dungeon that's just north and east of Klauth's lair.
of 12: After killing off the yuan-ti, check out the fountain.
of 12: Take and read the ritual book to see what this whole area is about.
of 12: You could take the dragon sphere and put it on the pedestal near the blue dragon to trap his essence in the sphere and then go give the sphere to Klauth for a reward, but that would strengthen him, not weaken him (which would only be good if you didn't plan to ever fight him).
of 12: According to the book, trapping the essence of a *dead* dragon would weaken Klauth greatly.
of 12: So go attack the blue dragon (you'll have to right-click on him and choose the attack icon).
of 12: After he's dead, go put the dragon sphere on the pedestal to sabotage it.
of 12: Pick the sphere up again, then go talk to Klauth and tell him you have an essence sphere.
of 12: He'll give you 5,000 gold and be greatly weakened, too.
of 12: Finish him off and search him to find his head and the key to the nearby SE room. (Also check out the three treasure chests that appear when he dies. They're full of good stuff, including Red Dragon Armor and a Time Stop spell scroll.)
