Which side should I choose?

  • 1 of 7: It doesn't really matter, and you'll end up doing the last two main quests pretty much the same way no matter what you choose here.
  • 2 of 7: However, your choice can have an impact on your companions.
  • 3 of 7: If you brought Kaelyn the Dove with you, she'll leave if you choose to join the city's defenders. Furthermore, you'll have to fight her and several of her relatives later on at Eternity's End.
  • 4 of 7: However, allying with the defenders will also get Araman to join you for awhile, which can help make up for Kaelyn's loss.
  • 5 of 7: If you restored Ammon Jerro in the Thay Academy and let him tag along with you earlier, he'll reappear to help in the battle at the city gates. (This seems to happen no matter which side you choose.)
  • 6 of 7: It's also useful to note that the powerful magic items you'll get during the next few battles will vary according to your choice.
  • 7 of 7: If you're basing your decision solely on magic items, I'd advise you to side with the city's defenders. That's the only sure way to get two certain armor items that give a lot of resistance to negative energy, which will be of tremendous use in the final battle. Also, it'll get you lots of good +8 gear from Kaelyn and her family if you brought her along.
