Neverwinter Nights 2: Mask of the Betrayer Hints
A Dark Hunger
of 9: There's really no progress to be made on this quest now, but I wanted to put in some useful tips on dealing with spirit energy.
of 9: Whenever you need to rest in order to heal or re-memorize spells, don't use the Rest menu, but instead use a world map transition point to travel somewhere. Even though the trip will take more than 8 hours, you'll lose less spirit energy than if you rested for 8 hours.
of 9: Also, if you haven't yet used your Suppress feat for the day, use it (while next to a spirit or two if possible) right before you travel.
of 9: You can often gain spirit energy by using Suppress, traveling somewhere, using Suppress again, and then traveling back to where you started.
of 9: The easiest way to take advantage of that is to go to the Mulsantir gate area, use a world map transition point to travel to Mulsantir, exit to the gate area and use Suppress next to a wandering spirit, and then repeat. Even though traveling from the gate area to the city is a *very* short trip, it'll count as regular travel, meaning you'll end up rested and able to use all your spirit feats.
of 9: If that doesn't work for you, try traveling back and forth between the Mulsantir gate area and the Wells of Lurue area (see the "Wisdom of the Hill Tribe" quest), since it's fairly close to the city. Each trip will cost you some spirit energy, but if your craving is low, you'll end up ahead after using Suppress. If your craving starts out high, you'll lose spirit energy, even after suppressing, but keep up the process (if you can survive it) until your craving is low enough that you start gaining spirit energy on each trip.
of 9: Note, though, that using the Suppress feat will get you lawful and good alignment points, and using it a lot will ensure that you're as lawful and good as any paladin, no matter what your class and preferred alignment are.
of 9: If you're determined to remain chaotic and/or evil, you'll have to keep your traveling down to a bare minimum, and use Devour Spirit and Devour Soul (see the above-mentioned hill tribe quest) to keep your spirit energy up. You'll also have to be prepared to use the Satiate feat in an emergency, even though doing so can cost you a lot of XP.
of 9: If you just can't stand to deal with the whole spirit energy thing, and are afraid it'll ruin the rest of the game for you, use the PC Cheat Codes to either turn it off or periodically replenish it so you won't have to worry about it.
