1 of 3: You can skip the big ambush at the southern bend by shortcutting across to the east. Study the area map to see how this can be done.
2 of 3: However, if you go and finish those orcs off, you can then find Guyven of the Road standing around near a lootable crate that's up on an elevated bit of ground that's about halfway along the east border of the area.
