Neverwinter Nights 2 Hints

Misc. Tips

  • 1 of 5: Get in the habit of pressing and briefly holding the Quick Inspect key (Z on the PC) on frequent occasions, especially if you suspect there's an NPC, monster, door, or treasure container in a dimly lit area that's hard to see in. Anything you can interact with will glow as long as the Quick Inspect key is pressed.
  • 2 of 5: If you approach a trap or try to open a locked object, your rogue (if it's not you) should immediately run over and start dealing with the lock or trap. If not, try switching control to the rogue (by clicking on his portrait) to get him going.
  • 3 of 5: Many magic items and special character powers can allegedly be used a certain number of times per day. However, it's not the number of hours of game time that pass that's important, but whether or not you rest. If you use a once-a-day power and then adventure around for three days of game time without resting, you'll still be unable to use the power again until after you rest.
  • 4 of 5: There's no such concept as stealing in this game, like there is in some other recent CRPGs (such as Oblivion). You can raid openable containers in someone's house right in front of them without worrying about being attacked or reported to the cops. Also, you can have your rogue repeatedly pickpocket someone using the Sleight of Hand skill to see what all you can get without fear of retribution.
  • 5 of 5: After you finish the game, one enjoyable way to replay it is to start it over with a new character of a different class. Another way is to import your level 20 character from your previous playthru and start a new game. Before you can do that, you'll have load a save from near the end of the game and then export your character using an option on the ESC Menu. (Unequip your character's weapons first so they don't get lost. Also, transfer valuable stuff from your companions' inventories to your character's inventory so he'll have that, too.)
