Neverwinter Nights 2 Hints
Pentin
of 11: If you freed Pentin and his miners from the Bonegnasher Lair back in Act I, you'll find them standing around a bit east of Callum at the Old Owl Well.
of 11: Talk to Pentin and make a deal with him to get him to relocate to the keep.
of 11: The next time you travel to the keep's farm area (or maybe the time after that), you'll find Pentin standing at his own map pin, a bit north of the transition point that leads to the courtyard.
of 11: You can talk to him and tell him about a new ore deposit as long as he hasn't already mined all of the ones you've discovered.
of 11: TIP: Wait until you've recruited both Pentin and Calindra to do any mining. I don't know that there's any benefit to that, but they're both very easy to recruit, so why not?
of 11: There are several ore veins in the game that they can mine, some of which are now inaccessible, so hopefully you discovered them earlier (by walking up to them and getting credit for finding them). The list below contains all of the veins you could have found prior to Act II, Part 3.
of 11: Talk to either Calindra or Pentin to send men off to mine every ore vein that you've discovered so far that hasn't been mined yet.
of 11: As soon as you get one of them going on a mining operation, you can go to the courtyard and talk to Jacoby and Edario about upgrading your Graycloaks' armor and weapons.
of 11: The next time you enter the farm area, talk to the miner you had do your mining in order to get some free ingots for crafting. (If you don't get them that way, talk to the other miner.) You should get one ingot for every vein that was mined.
of 11: Once you get all of the ore veins in the above list mined, you'll be able to purchase almost all of the weapon and armor upgrades available. However, you will need to find a few more veins before you can finish.
of 11: NOTE: When you talk to Pentin at some point after a mining expedition, he'll threaten to leave. You can try using a skill-related conversation option to get him to stay, but if he does leave, you'll still have Calindra.
