Craft Magic Arms and Armor
To do this kind of crafting, you'll need to put all the ingredients for a recipe plus the armor or weapon item to be enchanted into a magician's workbench, then have someone with the Craft Magic Arms and Armor feat cast the appropriate spell on the bench (either from memory or by using an inventory item). The caster can be your main character or any companion, so it would be a good idea to give the Craft Magic Arms and Armor feat to every companion who can get it at the earliest opportunity.
The recipes in the recipe books always list a caster level, but if you're using scrolls or whatever to cast the spells, all you have to do for many of the recipes is make sure your caster has the Craft Magic Arms and Armor feat and is of the right class to use the spell-casting items -- it doesn't really matter what level he is. With other recipes, level does matter. When this is the case, it's noted in parenthesis after the spell name. For instance, the "Resistance: Acid 30/-" armor upgrade requires a level 11 or higher caster. (Also note that such recipes sometimes don't work with spells cast from items, even though they always should.)
