Neverwinter Nights 2 Hints
Tholapsyx Tips
of 12: It would be best to have Khelgar and the construct in your party, plus Bishop or Casavir. The remaining party slot should be taken up by a spellcaster who can cast Energy Immunity on everyone.
of 12: Go to Tholapsyx's area, buff up everyone with Stoneskin, Haste, Energy Immunity (Fire), etc., and save your game. (You might also want to distribute some Cure Critical Wounds potions to your companions for use during battle.)
of 12: Approach the dragon and talk to it, choosing the dialogue option that'll immediately start a fight.
of 12: If your main character is a heavy melee fighter, take him in to hack on Tholie right away. However, pull him back when he gets below 1/4 or so health and have him chug some healing potions.
of 12: If your spellcaster(s) won't summon up creatures on their own, get them to do it so the dragon will have more targets to distract it from you.
of 12: It would be *very* handy if one of your characters had several Resurrection scrolls in his inventory. (Five can be purchased at the keep's church if you had it built.) You could hold that character back at least part of the time in order to have him ready to resurrect other characters with full hit points when they go down. (You might want to have your spellcaster do this, since he'll need to stay out of melee range, anyway.)
of 12: Hopefully, you'll be able to kill the dragon before your Energy Immunity spells and other useful buffs can wear off.
of 12: NOTE: It's best to keep the dragon targeted throughout the battle so you can monitor his hit point line. If it gets low and then goes back up a ways, you're pretty much doomed, especially if most of your companions are dead and you can't resurrect them. This happens a lot, so it may take you several tries to win. It's well worth the trouble, though.
of 12: After approaching the hoard and saying that the Graycloaks can pick up the bulk of it later, have Neeshka disarm and unlock all the chests so you can raid them. (If she's not with you, you could bash them, but it would be best to go get her if you're not a rogue.)
of 12: Then go to the SE corner of the area to find another ore vein that you can discover by walking up to it.
of 12: When you get back to Crossroad Keep later on, talk to Kana to learn that all the untakeable gold in the dragon hoard (or most of it, anyway) made it back and was added to the keep's treasury. You should get about 170,000 gold!
of 12: If you've already bought all the keep upgrades, the money doesn't have to go to waste -- you can withdraw it a bit at a time by talking to Kana.
