Neverwinter Nights 2 Hints
How does this process work?
of 13: Mephasm is the only fiend that Jerro will help you summon. He'll give you a scroll with a crafting recipe for an item that'll do it.
of 13: You'll need to gather the ingredients and put them in the magician's workbench that's in Grobnar's half of the basement.
of 13: Then have someone with the Craft Wondrous Items feat cast the Darkness spell on the workbench.
of 13: Sand will be good for that (and other wondrous item crafting) provided you give him the Craft Wondrous Items feat at some point when he levels up. (He doesn't ever get that feat if you keep using what's recommended during level-ups instead of choosing yourself.)
of 13: Once the gold filigree charm is created, take it and go into the summoning circle.
of 13: Choose to summon up Mephasm in order to get 500 XP for doing so.
of 13: Exit and reenter the summoning circle so you can summon Mephasm again.
of 13: Tell him you'd like to bargain with him, then exit and reeenter the circle to summon him yet again.
of 13: Talk to him about what he can do for you until he gives you a book of recipes for items that he wants in trade.
of 13: All three items are made in the same way as the gold filigree charm, with the only difference being the particular ingredient items you put into the magician's workbench.
of 13: Each time you make an infernal item using any of the three available recipes, you can trade it to Mephasm for 5,000 gold or one of three items.
of 13: There no limit (except your available crafting materials) to how many "infernal focus" gems you can make and trade, but you can only get each of the above items once -- you'll have to settle for a measly 5,000 gold the rest of the time.
of 13: Since many of the crafting ingredients used for making infernal focus gems are rare and valuable, you probably won't want to make more than three of them. That way, you'll get all three of Mephasm's items, and you can use your remaining crafting materials to craft other items yourself.
