Neverwinter Nights 2 Hints

The Siege Begins

  • 1 of 19: After the cut-scenes following the completion of the "Destroy the Bridges" quest, you'll be woken up in your chamber in the keep and told to meet Kana in the war room.
  • 2 of 19: It's in the SE corner of the area, so head on over there, talking to the quartermaster along the way if you want to do some merchant business with him.
  • 3 of 19: As Kana will tell you, the new problem is enemy siege towers that you'll have to render useless before they can overrun the keep with undead.
  • 4 of 19: Once again, you only get to choose two companions. It's definitely best to choose two powerful fighters whom you've equipped with vampiric weapons and items that regenerate their health over time. (Or make one of them Qara if you don't have any good weapons or spells that do fire damage.)
  • 5 of 19: However, this time you get to choose two sets of forces to accompany you. (I suggest the Ironfist clan and the lizardmen, or maybe the Graycloak fighters if you've equipped them well.)
  • 6 of 19: When you say you're ready to go, Kana will give you a Rod of Resurrection that you can use to instantly raise dead companions to life with full hit points. Very useful!
  • 7 of 19: When you appear on the keep walls, try to avoid taking much arrow damage while waiting for the first siege tower to latch on right near you.
  • 8 of 19: As soon as it does, start attacking the tower itself. Using weapons and/or spells that do fire damage is very helpful with this.
  • 9 of 19: After it's wrecked, immediately run over to where the second tower will probably have already docked and unleashed undead farther down the wall.
  • 10 of 19: Wreck the second tower quickly, and you may have enough time before the third tower docks to finish off the undead and heal up a bit.
  • 11 of 19: NOTE: There's no need to heal or resurrect your support fighters (dwarves, lizardmen, etc.), since you'll get more when your current batch is killed.
  • 12 of 19: It's important to rush and bash each siege tower as it arrives so that you don't get overwhelmed. The towers will be destroyed eventually if you don't help bash them, but you'll have to survive longer and fight more undead that way.
  • 13 of 19: After you destroy all the towers and the undead they emitted onto your wall, you'll be taken to the courtyard for a "last line of defense" battle against the invaders who come in through the sabotaged gates.
  • 14 of 19: Once again, I suggest you choose tough fighter companions (the construct is finally available) plus the Ironfist clan and the Graycloaks for support. (Or choose the lizardmen if your Graycloaks aren't very well-equipped.)
  • 15 of 19: At least in this segment, you won't have to run around a lot, and there won't be any siege machinery to hack up -- just attack all the undead who rush into the courtyard.
  • 16 of 19: After you thrash enough of them, Black Garius' shadow reaver form will appear and summon up a huge nightwalker creature.
  • 17 of 19: It should go down fairly easily as long as you or one of your henchmen uses the Silver Sword of Gith against it, and you invoke some of the special abilities you got at the Ruins of Arvahn. However, things can go wrong, so you might want to quicksave right before you start attacking the nightwalker.
  • 18 of 19: During the cut-scene that follows the nightwalker's demise, choose who you want to have cast the True Name spell to chase Black Garius off. (It doesn't really matter who you choose.)
  • 19 of 19: When that's over, the keep will be safe and you'll move on to Act III, Part 5: Confront the King.
