How can I get through this vile vale?
1 of 24: Before you get very far in it, you'll have to start using weird shadow portals to teleport around. They look like large patches of black fog, so keep an eye out for them.
2 of 24: After you choose your party and level up anyone who needs it, rest up (this is the last chance you'll get for awhile) and start exploring the room you appeared in.
3 of 24: Before you get very far, bunches of bone spiders (both big and small) will appear and attack you.
4 of 24: After you finish off all the spiders, heal up and loot all the dead bodies lying around. You can get lots of good stuff from them along with lots of minor junk.
5 of 24: Find the door in the north wall that leads to the next room and bash it open.
6 of 24: Try to draw all the undead creatures in that room to you a few at a time so they don't overwhelm you.
7 of 24: Heal up from that, then loot all the corpses in that room and the room to the west. (Note that you can't get onto its upper floor yet.)
8 of 24: Then head into the room to the east and look around.
9 of 24: As you approach some stairs with black fog on them, your companions will (probably) start talking about it.
10 of 24: This is the first of the shadow portals that you're going to have to use in order to eventually make it through the vale.
11 of 24: After you finish looting the bodies in the room, walk into the fog to be teleported to the upper west floor in the central room.
12 of 24: Watch for traps and lootable bodies as you explore it, then find the locked door in the west wall.
13 of 24: Bash your way through it to reach the east part of the upper floor in the west room.
14 of 24: To get to the west part of the upper floor, you'll have to go down the stairs to the lower floor, fight a few blade golems, and then go up the west stairs.
15 of 24: Bash your way through another door, then enter another shadow portal to be taken to the vale's far NE room.
16 of 24: As you start moving around in there, a bunch of greater shadows and a nightwalker (who starts out on the lower floor) will attack.
17 of 24: The door at the south end of that room is unbashable, and the only way to get it open is to kill the nightwalker. Remember to use the Silver Sword of Gith against it. (Or *both* silver swords if you find a duplicate in your inventory, which sometimes happens.)
18 of 24: Heal up before you go through that door, since there are several vampires, some shadow priests, and a lich waiting just past it.
19 of 24: When you're through with them, you'll see a shadow portal at the bottom of the stairs near the door you came through.
20 of 24: However, don't enter it. It's the first portal you used awhile ago, and it won't take you anywhere new.
21 of 24: Instead, go along the upper floor you're on until you reach the room's SW corner, where there's another shadow portal.
22 of 24: Use it to get teleported to the upper floor at the north end of the central room.
23 of 24: Be sure to fully heal up and check your equipment after killing all the mummy lords in that area. When you go down the passage that leads to the ritual sanctum, the last three shadow reavers will appear and attack you all at once!
24 of 24: After they're dead, loot their remains and head west until you come to a door that leads to the Inner Sanctum area. (Check around for lootable corpses before you go through the door.)
