The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Hints
How can I enter the Arena competition?
of 11: Hundolin, the bet-taking guy, will tell you how.
of 11: He says to enter the Arena Bloodworks and talk to Owyn the Blademaster.
of 11: The Arena Bloodworks door is down the stairs to the left of Hundolin, so go through it and look around for Owyn.
of 11: You'll find him at one end of the short curving hallway that's just north of the main practice room.
of 11: After you ask to be a combatant, he'll let you choose whether you want light or heavy "raiment" for your official Arena uniform.
of 11: You'll have to wear the raiment, which is full-body armor (including boots), for nearly every match you compete in. You can choose your own helm, shield, weapon, and jewelry, but that's all.
of 11: So choose light raiment if your Light Armor skill is much higher than your Heavy Armor skill. Otherwise, choose the heavy raiment.
of 11: NOTE: If you change your mind later, you can get raiment of both kinds from either of the two Raiment Cabinets. (One's near Owyn, and the other is near Ysabel Andronicus.)
of 11: TIP: After you sign up and get your raiment, you can legally take items from the Bloodworks area, including the various weapons on the weapon racks.
of 11: When you're ready to start fighting in the Arena, talk to Owyn about "Ready for a Match." (Note that it has to be between 9am and 9pm, the regular Arena hours.)
of 11: TIP: When you're done fighting for awhile, just drop your raiment on the floor next to Owyn so it won't encumber you on your adventures.
